"Through the manipulation of childhood objects, Charlot creates works responding to gender roles and stereotypes. The satirical sculptures expose themes in children’s toys (girls play focusing on appearance/ boys on strength and violence). The use of familiar objects in an uncomfortable way allows us to question the reality of heavily gendered play and the damaging outcome of these preparatory toys".
